Naada Bansuri — the physically-modeled bansuri

The Indian bamboo flute, generated in real time — meend glides, breath and overblow that respond to every gesture. No samples. No keyswitches.

On Mac, Naada Bansuri plays inside GeoShred Studio — you need GeoShred Studio to run it. On Windows it's a standalone VST3 plugin.

Modeled, not sampled

Most bansuri plugins are sample libraries — recordings of fixed notes and phrases that you trigger and crossfade between. Naada Bansuri is different: it is a real-time physical model built from years of research, so the instrument behaves like a bansuri instead of replaying one. Bends are continuous, breath shapes the tone as you play, and there are no keyswitches to wrangle.

Real-time meendContinuous glides and microtonal bends, the heart of Indian flute phrasing — played, not sampled.
No keyswitchesExpression comes from how you play, not from a grid of articulation keys.
Tiny footprintA self-contained modeled instrument — no multi-gigabyte sample library to download.
MPE-nativePer-note breath, pitch and timbre from a LinnStrument, Seaboard, Osmose, or a connected iPad.

Expressive multidimensional controls

Like every Naada instrument, the bansuri responds to a set of continuous expressive controls — shape each note as it sounds:

ExpressionOverall intensity and dynamics.
OverblowPush into the breathy, edge-of-tone register.
Growl & FlutterAdd articulation, rasp and flutter-tonguing character.
HarmonicsVoice the overtone balance of the flute.

Get Naada Bansuri

On Mac, get GeoShred Studio first. Naada Bansuri is an add-on instrument that plays inside GeoShred Studio (VST3 / AU / AUv3 / Standalone) — on its own it has no host to run in, so install GeoShred Studio first, then add Naada Bansuri from its in-app store. On Windows, Naada Bansuri is a standalone VST3 in the Naada “Harmonica, Flutes & Brass” collection and runs in any VST3 DAW.
